Okay guys... I'm watching the Live Earth concerts here and found out my favorite Justin.tv web caster Justine is at one of the concerts. So I pulled a split screen.... and later many more....
Purpose of all this: "Live Earth is a monumental music event that will bring together more than 2 billion people on 7/7/07 to raise awareness about global warming. With 24 hours of music across 7 continents, and performances by more than 150 of the world's top musicians, Live Earth will engage, connect, and inspire individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve the climate crisis."
Yesterday, I happened to catch the end of the Oprah episode as I flipped through the channels and she had on an artist names Susan Cagel that wrote a song called “Dear Oprah” I found the song a unique idea, seeing as how so many people write fan letters to celebrities she turned her’s into a song. What I found after the song that made me like her even more was her unique story to go with her sound, so I turned to my trusty music source to find more from her, Myspace. lol.
“For more than four years, singer-songwriter Susan Cagle has been making a name for herself throughout New York City’s subway system—surprising commuters with her impromptu performances. But, life wasn’t always so sweet for this soulful singer.
Growing up, Susan says she was raised in a very restrictive religious cult. “We had to do everything that they told us to do,” she says. “We were only allowed to read the Bible or other religious publications that were written by the organization.”
After years of feeling like a prisoner in her own life, Susan says she escaped that world and started on a path of her own. “It was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve got these feelings inside me I’ve always felt, a hunger for knowledge, for the world,’ and I was told it was wrong,” she says. “Once I started reading, it was like, ‘Wow, I need to get out of this.’”
Susan moved to New York City, where she took her love of singing to the streets. “Basically, the subway allowed me to connect with people. In the subways I wasn’t alone,” she says. “I realized, looking around at all the people rushing by me, that everybody has their own story. … It made me realize that, wow, I don’t have to use my background as an excuse to not do anything with my life. “
For years, Susan performed for anyone who would listen…and then fate stepped in. Music producer Jay Levine caught her act and soon the pair started writing music together. “He’s been with me through every step of the way,” she says.
One of Susan’s signature songs is titled “Dear Oprah”—and when Oprah heard it for the first time, she knew she wanted to meet Susan in person! The song originated from a letter Susan wrote to Oprah when she was 17—but never sent! “Your story always inspired me, your background, how you were brought up. You’re a self-made person,” Susan tells Oprah. “It was really just me pouring out my heart in my diary to you.’ “ (Article found here)

Vintage, "are just five dudes that want to do a rock album," They have been crowned champions of both the Hard Rock/KROQ Battle of the Bands and B.B. King's Battle of the Bands. In August of 2006 they finally got to release that rock album, entitled "Take It All".
This band has great tracks all around. There's not one I don't
like, it might be the rock phase I'm in now that amplifies my love for
their music, but either way they can count me as a fan. They have a great
balance of rock with a hint of pop to balance it out for those
that don't like full on heavy rock, but don't like the "bouncy pop
rock" If you know what I'm saying? lol.
A review I read about them from their MySpace blog, written in Music Connection Magazine,
says their sound is "Classic rock with a definite 80's influnce."
Though I was only born in the late eightys, have minamal
exposure to 80's music, and I am just now getting into some classic
rock, their muisc makes me feel I have years of good rock
knowlege and exposure.
The best way to put it, the band's music speaks for its self,
thier
talent is one that needs to be heard to truely be apperiated. You
have to hear it for yourself so take a look, take a listen!!

I have for this blog post, The artist Willie Herath.
I never would have guessed he was an Illinois native, he screams Californian, with his surfer looks and his fun up beat songs; in funny pictures and his spoof on survival shows in ‘Willie vs Wild', he shows that he’s a laid back, fun guy. Someone you know you'd have a good time with and laugh till it hurts. That’s what his songs are, laid back and fun, the kind of songs you'll have a good time with. Best described by him as "Nod Your Head Beach Rock".
As someone who
largely judges music on lyrics, more than sound, his slower tracks “Something’s Broken,” “Back
and Forth,” and “Come Home,” caught my attention the most. I loved the lyrics to each of these songs for
the reason that they bring up certain memories both good and bad but to be able
to put them to music is what keeps me coming back to listen to them again and
again, thats what really good songs, with good lyrics do.
They are all must haves for my collection now and I look
forward to hearing more from him.
-enjoy-

The other day I got an email through Myspace to give thoughts on bands and artists for a publicist. She had read 'My New Love' post on Colbie Caillat. So along with my 'Daily Reads' I'm gonna try and add a music segment, with thoughts on bands and artists I find or she tells me about. So look back for those! :]
I have totally become wrapped in my music lately. I have never been able to totally get into it because I always stored my music on my computer and in the last few years I've had to switch computers so many times that collecting more music became difficult when I always have to move them back and forth. Well not to long ago I think i got my last computer for a while so I'm finally feeling secure enough to add a lot more. My itunes highest count ever, sits at 758 for now. I'm sure it there will be more by nights end.
My current band/artist obsessions are Skillet who's lyrics fit my recent and current feelings and moods as well as Colbie Caillet for a softer sound, but at the moment I'm in to a harder sound. Which will change, I go back and forth between the two types. So I put together a list of links of my current band/artist favorites. I also think, if you like any of these that you try the OTH link I put at the bottom(also mentioned in my last blog entry) , I got a lot of good artists of of there, I didn't always like the song the site listed but I would find other songs by them and like those and end up liking the artist. It also helps to have friends with awesome music taste.
Important side note-Thanks Jared for the awesome bands you've introduced me too. Most of whom made the list. Skillet being the first! *wink* lol.
Skillet

The Ataris
Forty Foot Echo
